What is included?

 Tuition includes housing with breakfast at a first-class Bed & Breakfast inn (double or triple occupancy) and nightly fine restaurant dinners, transportation to and from Firenze airport or Arezzo train station, daily transport in and around Monterchi.  Daily masterclasses with Ransom Wilson and pianist Douglas Ashcraft, technique classes with Sergio Pallottelli.  Additionally, we will have the expert presence of flute repair guru Steven Finley. Of course there will also be free time to explore Tuscany, famous for its robust cuisine and gentle  life style.

Ransom Wilson’s 6th annual masterclass in Tuscany is accepting applications from flutists of all levels. This year, the class will be held again in the exquisite medieval hill town of Monterchi, home of Piero della Francesca’s revered fresco: La Madonna del Parto.  This quaint and artistic place is perched high on a hill  surrounded by vineyards and verdant valleys,  between the historical  splendor of Arezzo and Siena

Ten days of intensive study with one of the world's foremost flutists

Every day we will explore the major flute recital and concerto repertoire, accompanied again by the brilliant and personable pianist Douglas Ashcraft.  The class will be organized along Paris Conservatoire lines: students will in effect have private lessons with Mr. Wilson, in the presence the other students.  This approach is an exciting and efficient way to learn, and Ransom excels at teaching flutists at all levels.  Classes can be taught in English, Italian, French, or Spanish.

Additional technique classes will again be taught by dynamic solo flutist Sergio Pallottelli,  These classes will cover the basics of articulation, finger dexterity, and tone production.  This has proven to be an extremely popular part of our masterclasses.

Expert care of your flute

We are delighted to announce that flute repair guru Steven Finley, formerly of Powell Flutes, will join us again to take care of all of your instrument regulation needs.  "Finley"  is a delightful personality, and much sought after by leading flutists worldwide for his expertise in caring for flutes.

Gourmet meals, and lodging in 1st Class Bed & Breakfast Inns!

Once again, daily gourmet dinners are included in the class price, and we are happy to announce that every class participant and auditor will be housed in one of several charming Bed & Breakfast inns in Monterchi.  These inns are beautifully appointed hosted homes in the area, all with modern facilities, and fully licensed by the Tourism Board of Tuscany.  Virtually all of them are located within walking distance of our classes.
